Bulbule Lake

Bulbule Lake is a tranquil natural lake near Birendranagar in Surkhet District, a popular recreational destination for the residents of Karnali Province's capital. The lake's peaceful setting amid the Surkhet Valley hills makes it a favourite spot for boating, picnicking, and relaxing in natural surroundings.The lake is surrounded by a small park and offers pleasant walks along the shoreline, with birdwatching opportunities for common wetland and forest species found in the Surkhet Valley's gentle landscape.

Birendranagar, the town beside the lake, is the capital of Karnali Province and sits at about 700m in a broad inner valley that was largely uninhabited until malaria control opened it to settlement from the hills in the 1960s. The lake is spring fed, which is what its name refers to, and a paved circuit and public park were added when it was rebuilt as the city's main open space.
