Image Licensing
Using our photographs
Most of the photographs on hsj.sg were taken by us, on our own departures, by our guides and crew and the travellers who walked with them. They are not stock. If you would like to use one, we are usually glad to say yes — we just need you to ask first.
Who owns them
Photographs credited © HSJ Travel belong to Himalayan Social Journey. They are published here so you can see what a trip actually looks like, not released for reuse. Downloading one from the site, or taking it from a search result, is not a licence to publish it.
Asking for a licence
Email travel@hsj.sg, or call +65 8096 1243. So we can answer quickly rather than with questions, tell us:
1. Which photograph. A link to the page it is on, or the image address, is enough. A screenshot works too.
2. Where it will appear. A website, a printed brochure, a social post, a presentation — and whether the use is commercial.
3. For how long, if the use has an end date.
We answer in Singapore hours. What a licence costs depends on the use, and editorial or non-commercial requests are often free with a credit — there is no rate card to read through first.
Crediting
Unless we agree otherwise in writing, a licensed photograph carries the credit © HSJ Travel, linking to hsj.sg where the format allows a link.
What this does not cover
Not every picture on this site is ours. Some are licensed from photographers and agencies, some come from partners and suppliers, and those are not ours to pass on — a licence from us would be worth nothing. If you ask about one of those, we will tell you so rather than sell you something we do not own, and point you at the holder where we can.
The same goes for people. A photograph with a recognisable face may need that person’s agreement as well as ours, depending on what you intend to do with it. We will say when we think that applies.
If you think we have got it wrong
If a photograph here is yours and should not be, write to travel@hsj.sg with a link to the page and something that shows it is yours. We will take it down while we check, and we will not argue about it first.
